The Future of Outdoor Dining in Chinatown: Neighborhood Surveys

Outdoor dining in New York City started as an emergency program to save restaurants in the midst of the pandemic. The city has since made the program permanent, but the details of the permanent program are yet to be determined. Welcome to Chinatown conducted three surveys about sentiment concerning the future of outdoor dining in Chinatown, polling: (1) Chinatown consumers, (2) Chinatown small business storefronts, and (3) Chinatown seniors.

Among our findings were that majorities of consumers and storefronts we surveyed were supportive of the continuation of the program, while a majority of Chinatown seniors were not.
