Behind the Scenes: Made in Chinatown x Grand Tea & Imports

We are bringing you Behind the Scenes of our Made in Chinatown Lunar New Year collection for Grand Tea & Imports! 🫖

Grand Tea & Imports is a multi-generational family business sourcing small batch teas and unique cultural imports. The merch collection consists of a long sleeve shirt and print by designer Thumy Phan, who wanted to fuse together traditional and contemporary components.

Almost all the elements of the design were inspired by the products sold at Grand Tea & Imports. The three Gods — Fu, Lu, and Shou — featured on the shirt and print are from the daily Chinese tear-away calendar that Grand Tea & Imports sells. The Gods are illustrated drinking together as a reference to the business' tea selection. Additionally, the shop's clay teapot is seen on the front of the shirt.

Pink and red from Grand Tea & Imports' logo are incorporated into the background of the design (and of course red for good luck for the Lunar New Year!), and the vibrant colors from the blog are reflected in the Gods' robes.

You can purchase items from the collection on madeinchinatownny.com. Proceeds will go directly back to Grand Tea & Imports.
